DESCRIPTION

The Program Associate of the IDP Rising Schools Program is passionate about international education and finding sustainable solutions to complex problems. The candidate should be a professional and creative self-starter who is able to quickly and efficiently handle administrative and program responsibilities for a charitable foundation. The candidate must set high standards for quality work and will gather comprehensive information to support decision making. The ability to multitask effectively, take initiative and remain flexible and adaptive to changing circumstances on a day to day basis is crucial. This position will report directly to the Executive Director of the IDP Rising Schools Program for all day to day work and projects. It is expected that the Program Associate have the ability to travel domestically or internationally (up to 25%). A successful applicant will possess an upbeat, positive attitude with a propensity for team work in a small group setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the Executive Director, IDPRSP

  • Participate in calls/meetings alongside ED, take meeting notes, and maintain organized files and records
  • Develop and manage systems for monitoring and prioritizing tasks and projects to ensure all relationships are effectively managed
  • Participate in exploration of adding a quality component to IDPRSP and serve as a thought partner
  • Provide communications support and assistance with grantees and partners
  • Assist in tracking impact of IDPRSP and accompanying projects/partnerships

Research Specialist

  • Serve as IDP Foundation researcher; develop research briefs and report summaries as requested by foundation leadership; current research needs include:
    • Understanding the education context in Nigeria for expanding IDPRSP (education sector statistics, particular issues, policies, etc.)
    • Support ED in landscaping for quality additions to IDPRSP and conduct any background research required
  • Serve as thought partner and manager of external research efforts under direction of ED by drafting terms of reference, reviewing proposals, and ensuring timely submission of deliverables
  • Stay current on issues of international education, social enterprise, low-fee private schools, and public private partnerships in education

Other

  • Identify opportunities to support social enterprises in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Support Mapping of Schools in IDPRSP through contributing to planning process for scaling up Esri mapping in Ghana, determining best software to use in other countries, and helping plan how mapping efforts in other countries
  • Contribute to communications efforts through blog writing and social media posting as needed and directed by the communications team
  • Special projects as assigned by the Executive Director

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent research and writing skills; familiarity with research methods a plus
  • Ability to communicate on a professional and engaging level
  • Exceptional organizational skills – project management skills a plus
  • Flexibility with changing projects and ability to prioritize
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and general computer trouble shooting skills
  • Familiarity with Esri and/or GIS a plus, but not required
